Paul Thek @ Hammer Museum…

Made a visit to see the Paul Thek Retrospective at the UCLA Hammer Museum. Paul Thek was a brilliant sculpture, painter and one of the first installation-based artists. The exhibition contains his well known “meat pieces” but also explores some of his more conceptually challenging lesser known paintings from the 70′s-80′s. The photographs below don’t do justice to his work, so I highly suggest going to spend a few hours at the exhibition if you’re in the area. The exhibition runs until August 28th.

If you cannot make it to see the exhibition, an outstanding book has been produced of all the work in the show. Examples of Thek’s work cannot be seen online many places, and this book is a wonderful example of hundreds of his pieces.
